THE VINEYARD
Scottsdale, Tasmania
Fertile, volcanic-derived soils and cool climates ideal for elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and sparkling wine grapes.
Old Tractor Block
The Old Tractor Block takes its name from the Massey Ferguson that ploughed the paddock for years.
Selected as the first block for conversion to viticulture, this paddock with its breathtaking views down to Ten Mile Track and the forested hills beyond, boasts an ideal orientation and fertile red clay soils for which the Scottsdale region is renowned.
The gentle sloping northeast aspect combined with the elevation allow for slow and consistent ripening of both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The block consists of two Pinot Noir clones, 115 and 777, and 95 clone Chardonnay, all planted on own roots.
You’ll no longer find the the Massey Ferguson in the paddock, these days it’s been replaced with probably the only vineyard tractor you will find in Scottsdale.
